One set of former AEW Tag Team Champions has quietly broken up.

In October of 2023, Ricky Starks and Big Bill teamed up and shockingly unseated FTR as AEW Tag Team Champions. The pair would hold the championship for months until losing to Sting and Darby Allin on the February 7th episode of Dynamite.

Starks and Bill wouldn’t team up again until the March 30th episode of Dynamite, where they took on Dante and Darius Martin of Top Flight in the quarter final round of the AEW World Tag Team Title Tournament.

Unfortunately, the finish did not go according to plan. In the end, Darius ended up pinning Starks off a standard DDT and ringside medical trainers checked on Starks after the match. As reported by Fightful Select, this was not the planned finish or even victors as Starks and Bill were meant to advance to face FTR.

Ricky Starks later took to social media to indicate that he was fine and that stopping the match had simply been a precaution, but the star hasn’t appeared on AEW television since the incident. Starks later clarified on social media that he is not injured.

Bill, meanwhile, recently aligned himself with Chris Jericho. On the May 8th episode of Dynamite, the pair teamed up to defeat the team of Moe Jabari and Harlon Abbot in short order, and Bill has made it clear he wants to sit under Jericho’s learning tree.

Will Ricky Starks And Big Bill Team Up Again In AEW?

According to a new report from Fightful Select, the alliance between Bill and Jericho marks the end of the Ricky Starks/Big Bill tag team. The report notes that by the time the team lost the Tag Team Championship to Darby Allin and Sting, there were no plans for the company to keep them together long term as both men were ready to move onto other creative endeavors.

Fightful Select notes that there is no ill will between the two men, they simply believed the team had run its course and wanted to pursue other things.
