Saturday’s tapings of AEW Dark saw a popular star reveal a new look after social media teasers.
On the July 16th AEW Dark tapings, Fuego Del Sol unveiled a new look, sporting shiny dark gear with black trim around the eyes. This marks a noticeable change from his previous ring gear which featured bright shades of red, blue and pink.
That same day, Del Sol posted a picture of himself from the tapings on his Twitter account.
A day before the Dark tapings, Del Sol blacked out his Twitter account and deleted all previous tweets, only leaving one single message.
Change is going to come.
During the tapings, Del Sol showcased a much less cheerful demeanour in his match against former WWE star and Dark regular Ariya Daivari, who was accompanied by Parker Boudreaux, formerly known as Harland in NXT 2.0.
A gimmick change would mark the first major shift to Del Sol since signing his AEW contract on the first episode of AEW Rampage on August 13th after a defeat at the hands of then-TNT champion Miro.
Del Sol’s latest storyline on TV was in a short-term feud against the House of Black, where he lost to the faction on three separate occasions between March and May on AEW Rampage.
Del Sol’s last televised match before the change was in a losing effort against The Acclaimed & the Gunn Club alongside Bear Country & Leon Ruffin on the July 6th edition of AEW Dynamite.
