At AEW Double or Nothing, Jade Cargill was pinned for the first time in her impressive young career. However, that defeat didn’t come against her advertised opponent.

In recent weeks the has been wrapped up in a rivalry with Taya Valkyrie, and things promised to come to a head in Las Vegas.

After being played to the ring by Big Boss Vette and even performing part of the dance routine herself along the way, Cargill got the better of Valkyrie, but only just. Cargill was pushed all of the way by the veteran and only just kicked out of the Road to Valhalla. However, she responded quickly with Jaded to extend her unbeaten run. But her celebrations proved to be short-lived.

Mark Sterling hit the ring to talk up the skills of his client who had just extended her undefeated run to 60-0. The excitable manager said that there was no one who could come close to Cargill’s level and she had beaten everyone who dared to step in the ring with her. This laid down a challenge for someone new to step up, and step up they did.

Kris Statlander marched to the ring to a loud ovation, making her first on-screen appearance since suffering a serious knee injury in August 2022. Although Cargill gave as good as got, she was no match for the returning star who grabbed an impressive win with the Big Bang Theory.

As a stunned Cargill left the ring, ticker tape fell from the ceiling as a visibly emotional Statlander celebrated a perfect return to action.

Following the shock title change it has been reported by Fightful Select that Statlander has been planned to dethrone Cargill for a number of weeks. The report adds that Cargill will be taking some time off, perhaps even immediately, before “returning to the ring with a personality shift down the road.”

Jade Cargill’s Undefeated Record Falls

Since debuting in AEW in November 2020, Jade Cargill has been turning heads, and her first match featured none other than Cody Rhodes and Shaquille O’Neal. From there, the star kept racking up wins and was crowned the inaugural TBS Champion in January 2022.

Prior to being defeated by Statlander, Cargill had been the only woman to win the gold, earning comparisons with Goldberg.
