On the April 26th episode of AEW Dynamite, Taya Valkyrie became the latest star to try and end Jade Cargill’s long-running undefeated streak.
The first and to date only TBS Champion is yet to taste defeat since making her in-ring debut in March 2021.
However, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been challenges along the way. On March 15th, Taya Valkyrie made her AEW debut and immediately went after Cargill. This led to a match being made between the pair a month later.
During the match, Valkyrie was banned from using her ‘Road to Valhalla’ finishing move, which Cargill also utilises under the name ‘Jaded.’ After being defeated by Cargill a frustrated Valkyrie lashed out, putting her hands on referee Aubrey Edwards.
On the May 5th episode of Rampage, it was confirmed by commentary that Valkyrie has been suspended for her actions. Meanwhile, in the ring, Cargill saw off Gia Scott to extend her unbeaten streak to 58-0.
AEW Star Tips Jade Cargill To Surpass Goldberg
Since embarking on her long undefeated run, Jade Cargill has been regularly compared with WCW legend Goldberg. While the true numbers involved remain up for debate, the record books state that Goldberg went undefeated for 173 straight matches following his WCW in 1997.
Speaking in a recent interview, former AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa claimed that Cargill could eventually surpass that incredible figure.
Interestingly since becoming a free agent, Goldberg has been linked with a move to AEW and even a match at All In.
