AEW Star Suffers Broken Wrist

Bandido vs Konosuke Takeshita on AEW Rampage

On the latest edition of Rampage, Bandido took on Konosuke Takeshita in the main event.

The fast-paced match saw Bandido throw everything he had at Don Callis’ new protege in and out of the ring including a huge Moonsault to the outside and impressive escapes from Takeshita’s big moves.

In the end, though, Takeshita proved to be too much for the lucha star and ended things with two brutal Running Knees for the pinfall victory.

Unfortunately, Bandido didn’t only lose the match, but suffered an injury in the process.

Bandido set to take time away from AEW for surgery

The star took to social media to show an x-ray which revealed he had broken his wrist during the bout. He has been informed it is a triangular fibrocartilage injury that will require surgery “as soon as possible”.

He noted he will get a second opinion on the injury on June 19th, but has to cancel his commitments.

“This is cracked! At the AEW Rampage event against Takeshita I broke my wrist and the first diagnosis has been that it is a triangular fibrocartilage complex injury and I need surgery as soon as possible. On Monday I will go for the second and final opinion as soon as I have to cancel my closest commitments! an apology to all the fans.”

It is currently unknown how long the former ROH World Champion will be out of action. The typical recovery time for a TFCC injury is around 12 weeks following surgery.

Rampage also saw Aubrey Edwards make her in-ring debut, teaming with Mark Briscoe and Papa Briscoe to defeat Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, and Karen Jarrett. Edwards won the bout with a Figure Four Leglock on Karen Jarrett.
