AEW star Skye Blue has commented on the extremely inappropriate actions of a member of the audience at a recent taping.
Following the conclusion of the May 8th episode of Dynamite, tapings for Ring of Honor took place. Those in attendance reported on social media that an attendee in the front row was harassing Skye Blue with some of the comments being sexually charged. Unfortunately, reports later confirmed that the incident involving the attendee, who had a small child with them, did take place.
Although security did speak to the audience member after being alerted by referee Aubrey Edwards, they were ejected by security shortly afterwards.
News of the incident made its way online with many showing their appreciation for the performers and calling out the vile comments of the man in attendance. Thanking everyone for all the love and support, Blue said the following on social media:
I’m beyond overwhelmed with all the love and support. Thank you everyone you have no idea how much it’s appreciated Let’s make sure the future generations of women wrestlers don’t have to deal with this sh*t.
AEW Shows Support To Skye Blue
Rachael Ellering, who was Blue’s opponent at the taping, has also called out the unacceptable behaviour:
The speed in which @RefAubrey and I got out of the ring last night post match to get this creep kicked out was remarkable. Olympic medalist speeds. I’ve NEVER in my career heard such vulgar things being said to talent during a match. Sexual harassment is not heckling.
I do want to say this: Thank you very much to the rowdy, respectful fans that come out to enjoy the show and support. We really appreciate you! This guy wasn’t a fan. He was a pervert who should be banned from shows for life.
Aubrey Edwards, who was officiating the match, made it clear that this behaviour would not be tolerated and will make sure that anyone who does this in the future will be ejected:
If you yell disgusting, vile, hateful things at my coworkers, I will make sure your ass gets kicked out. There is no place for that in wrestling. Heckling is fine, but when you’ve made the performers (me included) feel uncomfortable in their place of work, you’ve gone too far.
The previous report about the incident also stated that AEW praised Blue, Ellering and Edwards for keeping the match together despite the unacceptable behaviour of the man in attendance.
