AEW Star Signs New Deal

AEW Star Signs New Deal

AEW star Buddy Matthews will be staying with the company for the foreseeable future.

While multiple members of the roster have elected to let their contracts expire and explore other opportunities, Matthews has chosen to sign a new contract. The news was broken by Ibou of WrestlePurists on social media, responding to a fan post on social media that Matthews had re-signed with the promotion:

Relatively soon. Buddy is signed a new deal though.

Previously competing under WWE as Buddy Murphy, the Australian star was released from his contract in June 2021 as part of the many “budget cuts” releases that occurred during the pandemic. Matthews debuted for AEW in June 2022 and aligned with Malakai Black and Brody King to form The House of Black. The group still remains together to this day and previously reigned as the Trios Champions.

Matthews last competed on the June 16th episode Collision alongside Black and King, where the Trio were victorious over The Bang Bang Gang. Recently, Buddy Matthews also married Rhea Ripley.
