AEW Star Reflects On Major Career Realization: “This Is Why…”

Shelton Benjamin AEW

This top AEW star has opened up on one of his career’s realizations.

Making his AEW debut earlier last year, Benjamin found his way into All Elite Wrestling and joined hands with MVP and Bobby Lashley to form the Hurt Syndicate and even win the Tag-Team Championship.

However, before his run with AEW, Benjamin was widely known for his time with WWE, and became known all over the world because of his run and title wins there. Joining WWE in 2000, Benjamin was also in four of the first five WWE Money in the Bank Ladder Matches. A part of the inaugural Money In The Bank match at WrestleMania 21, Benjamin recently reflected on a high-risk spot he was involved in at the 2008 Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Speaking on Maven’s YouTube channel, Benjamin said,

“I can tell you right now what I was thinking here when it came to Money in the Bank. No matter what was going on with me that year, the previous year, when it came to this match, this is my time to show the fans, ‘Okay, this is why I’m a WWE Superstar.’ No matter if I’m winning, losing, no matter how I’m being utilized by the company, this is where I remind the company and the fans, ‘This is why I’m here.”

He further stated,

“There wasn’t really much to I was thinking about, other than, ‘Land in the middle.’ As the ladder is going over, in my head, I’m like, I gotta be off this ladder before it touches the rope. Because if it touches the ropes, it’s gonna bounce back at me… Carlito and Kennedy, they were supporting, so I had a little push off. Gotcha. As I’m going over, I’m watching to determine when to go.”

Here Is Why AEW Star Shelton Benjamin Did Not Want To Involve His Mother In WWE

During a recent video on Maven’s YouTube channel, Benjamin recalled the angle from 2006, when he had his “mama” as his manager in WWE. Speaking about this storyline, Shelton Benjamin revealed how Vince McMahon wanted to involve his real mother in the angle, but he had other plans.

“Vince actually asked me, ‘Do you want to use your real mama for this?’ My response, ‘Hell no.’ I don’t want to be on the road with my mom, but more importantly, you know how our locker room was at the time, how certain individuals were, and I’ll even throw Randy’s name in there, because he was one of the ones I would worry about. Old Randy was a problem. Him and other people as well. But if I brought my real mom onto here, and anyone said anything out of line to my mama, my real mother? I’d be fired, and someone would be well… That’s scorched Earth. You don’t mess with my mama.”
