One star in All Elite Wrestling has reminisced about the advice given to them by the late, great Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff that has stuck with them throughout their own wrestling career.
Rebel is currently seen on AEW television by the side of AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker DMD. Although Rebel hasn’t competed too often since joining AEW, she has her own in-ring career dating back to 2014. With matches to her name in OVW, Stardom, as well as a run in IMPACT Wrestling, Rebel is a useful sidekick to Baker as she rules AEW’s women’s division with an iron fist.
Speaking to Aubrey Edwards and Tony Schiavone on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Rebel reminisced about spending time with Paul Orndorff where he imparted some wonderful advice.
“I have one experience with [Paul Orndorff], and it is one of the most memorable experiences that I will never forget it and I’ll never forget him. We had an appearance together. We were signing, and he was so helpful and so knowledgeable and just raw with his insight and his advice.”
“I have a really bad memory but the gist of it is we were in the car, and he was just telling me what it really meant to be a heel. Back in the day, you weren’t politically correct. You did whatever you had to do to the point where it was a compliment if you had people throwing sh*t at you. ‘Face of an angel, mouth of a truck.’ Throwing sh*t at him, waiting for him after the show, you needed security. He just really laid it out there how important it was to be fully committed to your character.”
The wrestling world lost Paul Orndorff on July 12th 2021 when he passed away at the age of 71 years old. During his career Orndorff feuded over the WWF Championship with Hulk Hogan and the two men squared off on oppostite teams in the main event at the inaugural WrestleMania in 1985.
