After several weeks out of action, it has been confirmed that Trent Beretta is on AEW‘s injured list.
Over the past few months, Trent Beretta has been embroiled in a feud with his former Best Friend, Orange Cassidy. The rivalry began when Trent attacked Cassidy and following a loss to the Young Bucks in back in April.
Beretta also turned on Chuck Taylor, leading to a Parking Lot Brawl that saw Beretta attacking Taylor’s leg. The attack served to write Taylor off of TV as he is suffering from a career-threatening ankle injury.
Beretta and Cassidy finally met in the ring at Double or Nothing, where OC scored the win over his former ally. In the following weeks, Beretta joined the Don Callis Family, further cementing his heel turn. However, he has not wrestled since.
Trent Beretta Brutally Attacked On AEW Collision
On the July 13th edition of Collision, Cassidy teamed with Kyle O’Reilly in a losing effort to the Undisputed Kingdom’s Matt Taven and Mike Bennett. During the match, Beretta attacked Cassidy, throwing him into a barricade and telling him he didn’t “get to have friends now”. He then tried to assault O’Reilly, only to be stopped by Bennett and Taven, who are trying to recruit O’Reilly to their group.
While Beretta was distracted, an enraged Cassidy got in the ring and hit him over the back with a monkey wrench, knocking him down to chants of “holy s**t.”
According to Fightful Select, Trent has been sidelined with an injury since Duble or Nothing. The report also noted that he was in line for a push before being added to the injured list, but hasn’t been cleared to compete in “quite some time.”
With news of the injury, the angle on Collison may be used as a way to write the star off TV for the time being.
