AEW Star Hopeful They Can Return From Potential Career-Ending Injury

An AEW star remains optimistic that they have not competed in their final match.

On the April 3rd episode of Dynamite, The Best Friends imploded when Trent Beretta attacked Orange Cassidy after they lost a tag team match to The Young Bucks. Beretta also focused his attacks on Chuck Taylor which led to the Parking Lot Brawl between the two former partners on the April 25th episode of Rampage and Beretta becoming the victor.

On the next episode of Dynamite, Cassidy gave the unfortunate update that Taylor may not be able to wrestle again as a result of the injury. Although many at first took this to be a part of the storyline to add drama, it was later reported that the AEW star had been forced into in-ring retirement.

Taylor originally injured his knee back in October 2023 and the injury did not improve with rehab, meaning that surgery was required. While discussing the injury and upcoming surgery, Taylor provided a potentially positive update.

Appearing on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Taylor stated that he will reassess his options after the surgery and that others have also defied the odds in the past:

“I can get surgery. And once I heal from that, I can hopefully reassess…maybe it’s me hoping. But a lot of guys and gals have come back from ‘career-ending’ injuries,”

Addressing his current condition, Taylor added that no surgery has been scheduled and that he is looking to stay in AEW to learn the production side of professional wrestling:

“It’s not really an emergency, they said. I can’t do anything athletic. Eventually, they said, I’ll get terrible arthritism, and then all they can do is fuse it. But that’s years down the line, so I’m hoping maybe take the summer to really feel comfortable in the job, I don’t want to learn half of it and then p*ss off for a while, so hopefully after the summer is my hope.”

Chuck Taylor has been joined on the injured list by former Best Friend Trent Beretta, who was seemingly written off AEW TV when Orange Cassidy launched a vicious assault ont he star.

Injured AEW Star Cleared

Taylor is unfortunately the latest name to be sidelined in AEW as a result of a serious injury. In a more positive update, one AEW star who has been out of action since January has been cleared to compete.
