AEW Star Gives Thoughts On WWE WrestleMania 40 Main Event: “If It’s The Rock I’m P*ssed”

The Rock Returns to SmackDown after huge WrestleMania 40 tease

One AEW star doesn’t want The Rock in the main event of WrestleMania 40.

Back in September, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shocked the world when he made a surprise return to SmackDown alongside Pat McAfee. The return came just after the two men recorded an episode of The Pat McAfee Show in which Rock teased that he was open for WrestleMania 40.

Fast forward to January 1st, and The Great One once again made a surprise appearance on Monday Night Raw after teases that a former WWE Champion would be returning. Rock confronted fellow former champion Jinder Mahal before asking the crowd whether he should sit at the “head of the table,” another clear tease that a dream match between himself and Roman Reigns could be on the horizon.

These teases leave fans wondering what Rock’s return means for Cody Rhodes, who’s still looking to finish his story against Roman Reigns.

Speaking in a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Cody’s brother Dustin opened up about his relationship with his brother and his late father. Dustin had this to say:

“My dad, myself, and my brother, we’re three different men. But we all love the fans, we love the business, and we take a lot of pride in protecting the Rhodes name. Cody is on fire. This is his time. I’m very happy for him. We’re carrying on the legacy, which is very special to us.”

“This Is Cody’s Time” – Dustin Rhodes On Possibility Of The Rock Main Eventing WrestleMania 40

Though he’s signed to AEW, Dustin Rhodes says he’s always keeping an eye on WWE because he’s always looking out for his brother.

“I’m always looking out for Cody, so I’m always watching.”

When it comes to the question of WrestleMania 40’s main event, Rhodes believes it should be Cody’s time, Rock or no Rock.

“I hope Cody’s in the main event spot against Roman. Or it’s going to be The Rock. If it is The Rock, I’m pissed–this is Cody’s time. He is becoming the face of the company, and it’s paying off. But I get it. If it is The Rock, it’s still good business. I understand that there are a lot of people who love seeing The Rock. But I still think it’s Cody’s moment.”

While Rhodes has made his choice clear on the marquee match, a top WWE star believes that The Rock should headline WrestleMania 40.

In a separate interview, the AEW star gave an update on retirement plans.
