Sonjay Dutt is set to return to in-ring competition for the first time in almost five years when he makes his All Elite Wrestling debut!
The one-time IMPACT X Division Champion hasn’t competed since December 2017, even going so far as to say there was “zero chance” he would make an in-ring comeback on an edition of the AEW Unrestricted podcast.
Sonjay Dutt, aged 40, is due to come out of his unofficial retirement on the forthcoming edition of Rampage, teaming with Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh against the Best Friends trio of Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor, and Orange Cassidy. The match was taped following Wednesday’s Fight For The Fallen Dynamite special.
It’s #BestFriends w/ @OrangeCassidy against @TheLethalJay/@hellosatnam/@sonjaydutterson this FRIDAY on #AEWRampage#FightForTheFallen on TNT!

Discussing a potential in-ring return on the aforementioned AEW Unrestricted podcast, the former IMPACT star noted that it was “unlikely” he would wrestle again unless his body was physically ready to do so:
“Unlikely. There will be a zero chance that I will be returning to the ring. Let’s put it like this, if I was fixed physically if my body was 100% that would be something I would consider. But until that happens, there is no way I’m getting in the ring I’m not doing it.”
Sonjay Dutt last wrestled on 28 December 2017 according to records, losing to Jonathan Gresham on a NOVA Pro Wrestling card. He’d previously enjoyed runs in IMPACT Wrestling, Ring Of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and just about everywhere else beforehand.
It was reported that Dutt had joined the Tony Khan-helmed promotion as a producer last June, just one day after he left the same role in WWE. He aligned with Jay Lethal, his former tag team partner and rival in IMPACT Wrestling, during ROH Supercard of Honor, with Satnam Singh joining them days later.
