AEW Star Files New Trademark After Recent Tag-Team Split

The Acclaimed Max Caster Anthony Bowens make their entrance on AEW Dynamite 2022

Former AEW tag-team champions, ‘The Acclaimed’ are no more together.

After months of tension and animosity between Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, the two have finally split. The duo began teaming together in October 2020 and quickly became extremely popular with the fans.

Lasting a bit more than four years, the former tag-team champions called it over on the December 18th episode of Collision Maximum Carnage. Tired of Max Caster’s pride and ego, Bowens called it quits and sided with Billy Gunn.

However, soon after the tag team finished up, Bowens filed for a new trademark, possibly hinting toward a singles run. Breaking up from his long-term partner, Bowens could be on his way toward a solo career, with a new catchphrase.

As per a filing with the USPTO, Bowens has filed to trademark the phrase – ‘THE PRIDE OF PRO WRESTLING.’ The filing notes planned use for shirts and short-sleeved shirts; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts; Hats; and Bandanas.

Max Caster Addresses AEW Tag-Team Breakup With Anthony Bowens

Soon after their split, the self-entitled “Best Wrestler Alive” Max Caster addressed the tragic end of their team in a backstage interview:

“Yeah The Acclaimed is done. I’m just trying to grow as a person and Anthony Bowens, Billy Gunn, they’re not ready to grow, but everyone’s at different stages of their lives and you gotta understand.”

“But I knew that going into this speech today, Anthony Bowens is my best friend for life and I know he’s hard headed and ever since he’s started listening to Billy Gunn, he’s been a real stubborn guy. And I have been too.”

“Billy is a bad influence and has been since the 90s. But you know I just told it like it was and as the captain and the leader of The Acclaimed, and sometimes the captain has to go down with the ship.”
