AEW Star Explains Why They Love Tribalism In Wrestling

A member of the AEW roster has spoken out on the topic on tribalism in wrestling and why they have no issues with it taking place.

Following the formation of AEW in 2019, which was presented as the alternative to WWE, certain fans have become a lot more toxic on social media. Choosing to show their loyalty to a particular company, the tribalistic fans will defend their chosen promotion no matter what and will fire shots at the competition at every given opportunity.

The increased negativity on online platforms has become an issue with many fans and wrestlers, some of which have chosen to leave social media as they are sick of the comments and fighting between fans over what the other company is doing. While many would like to see the tribalism end and for fans to just enjoy wrestling, AEW star Jeff Jarrett has a different view.

While speaking with The Orlando Sentinel, Jarrett admitted that he is a fan of tribalism as he believes it creates passion among the fans and therefore more revenue:

“I love tribalism. I embrace it because it is the nature of what pro wrestling is –- home team vs. away, good vs. evil, black, white, shades of gray. So many aspects of this world are super-divisive and super-tribalistic. But in wrestling, with that ability to evoke emotion, you create more chatter, you create more passion and you create more revenue.”

WWE Hall Of Famer Speaks Out On Controversial AEW Match

A recent AEW match that generated a lot of discourse was the Hollywood Ending between Mariah May and Toni Storm at Revolution. While some fans praised the final match in the trilogy to be a fitting end for the rivalry, others found the women bleeding to be off-putting and claimed that it was detrimental to All Elite Wrestling. Aware that the match became a major talking point, a WWE Hall of Famer explained why they had no problems with the Toni Storm and Mariah May bloodbath.
