Deonna Purrazzo has blasted multiple social media accounts who have given their thoughts on her recent AEW appearances.
Purrazzo, who recently signed with AEW, made her in-ring debut for the company on the January 13th episode of Collision, defeating Red Velvet on the Saturday night show.
A clip from the match was uploaded to AEW’s Instagram page. Unfortunately, some accounts posted negative comments about The Virtuosa and body shaming the AEW star.
Screenshots from the post made their way onto X. Having seen the comments directed at her, Purrazzo stated the following:
Oh, I’ve already seen it. I had a cry then I realized my worth is NOT determined by 1) my body 2) others perception of me. I am a 5x World Champion. I have worked with nearly every major company in the world. I am one of the greatest wrestlers in the world. Furthermore, I just earned my bachelors degree. I am looking to start a Master’s program. AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, I have a husband who thinks I am beautiful whether I’m a size S or M. (I’ve never ever been a size S.) They are entitled to their opinion and I’m entitled to tell them to kiss this FAT ass.
Deonna Purrazzo Overwhelmed By Positive Responses
The post was inundated with support from multiple stars in the wrestling world praising Purrazzo. The Virtuosa would follow up her initial post to highlight that comments can be seen and can cause a negative impact:
I tweeted because I thought it was important to let it be known that we, all of us, see the negative comments/tweets and it does effect us. We are humans too. Also because it’s important to show other women and girls that their value is not defined by their body. Rather, their hearts, minds, & successes. I never expected this outpouring of love. And now I’m crying happy/touched/overwhelmed tears. This is the best side of this community. I’m choosing to be grateful tonight. Thank you
Prior to joining AEW, Purazzo predominantly wrestled in Impact Wrestling, where she captured the Knockouts Championship on 3 separate occasions and the Knockouts Tag Team Championships once with Chelsea Green. A fellow former Impact star recently praised Deonna Purrazzo for her in-ring abilities, describing The Virtuosa as one of the best technical wrestlers on the planet.
In a new interview, Deonna Purrazzo discussed her motivations to join All Elite Wrestling.
