AEW wrestler Buddy Matthews has provided an update following a concerning incident that took place in his last match.
Earlier in the month, Matthews challenged Kazuchika Okada for the Continental Championship at Grand Slam Australia, the first AEW show to take place in the country. Fan footage from the show saw Matthews land badly on his ankle shortly after making his entrance and was also seen limping to the back after his loss to The Rainmaker.
A few days after the show, Matthews went on his honeymoon with his wife Rhea Ripley. As seen on photos posted to Ripley’s social media account, Matthews was seen holding a crutch, leading to concern that he may have picked up an injury in the match.
Providing a further update on his Instagram story, Matthews posted a picture of his foot in a walking boot, with the former Trios Champion joking that he is “like 1/2 Iron Man.” The severity of the injury is currently unknown, meaning Matthews time away from the ring is to be determined.

Instead of attacking Bayne and ally Penelope Ford, Rosa stood with the chair for an extended period, leading to confusion among the performers. Aware of the fallout from the AEW segment, Thunder Rosa recently told her side of the story.
