While Triple H is now in charge of the day-to-day running of WWE TV, there are many stars who remember what it was like to work under Vince McMahon.
One man who has experienced both styles of management is current AEW star Dax Harwood. On the latest edition of FTR with Dax, the former Raw Tag Team Champion compared the two, saying that while Triple H “wanted to rule with an iron fist”, Vince McMahon was more interested in “scaring people into respecting him”.
“He enjoys being the alpha male, he enjoys people being afraid of him. I don’t think Hunter really wanted to rule with a sword, he wanted to rule with an iron fist and wanted people to respect him. Vince wanted to scare people into respecting him.”
Despite this, Harwood found both men to be “very approachable”, although Triple H is more likely to listen to wrestlers’ ideas.
“They’re both very approachable, but Hunter is also more receptive to your ideas. We can bounce ideas off of [him] and there were plenty of times when I did. His ideas always came with a great reason and it made sense.”
Harwood gave an example of this, saying that the original plan for The Revival’s 2 Out Of 3 Falls match against Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver Toronto called for the DIY duo to win two straight falls. However, the teams were able to convince The Game that the classic bout should go to three falls.
Dax Harwood says FTR have decided their wrestling future
As FTR’s contracts with AEW approach their expiration in April, speculation has been rampant on whether the pair will stay with the promotion or head back to WWE.
While they are still keeping their cards close to their chest, Harwood did let fans know a decision has been made and all will be revealed in the “next couple of weeks”.
Just got off the phone with Cash. We’ve decided what we’re going to do come April. NOTHING is official yet, so legally, can’t speak on it, but in the next couple of weeks, we’ll let all of our fans know. We owe it to y’all for the opportunities we have in front of us. Love y’all.
