With uncertainty surrounding WWE and Vince McMahon, and AEW having such a large roster, talent contracts have become a favourite discussion point for wrestling fans.
Whether it’s former WWE stars looking to return to the company, or current big names looking to leave following Vince McMahon’s return, there’s never a dull moment.
One man who has been continually linked with a move back to WWE is AEW star Andrade El Idolo. The star revealed that he had undergone surgery in November for a pectoral injury, having not competed since All Out back in September.
Speaking to Lucha Libre Online, Andrade said that he’s close to being back to 100%, while his contract with AEW runs out “very soon.”
“First of all, I still work for AEW. I want to clarify that, because I am still with AEW. My contract will expire very soon, but I still belong to AEW. I tore my chest, so I am still in recovery. I had an operation in November, about 4 months off, but am close to being back & to feel at 100%.
I was in the Hall of Fame event, mostly to accompany my spouse (Charlotte Flair) and to celebrate the induction of my friend, Rey Mysterio. It’s something awesome because I have great matches with him. I never tagged with him, but he is someone I admire and a symbol for all Latinos. Of course I saw Ric Flair & he thanked me for being with his daughter and to give her advice ahead of her match. Now that I see her, I would tell her about it,
It should be noted that Andrade has previously stated that his contract with AEW was for three years. The star debuted with the company in June 2021.
Andrade El Idolo Reportedly Tried To Get Fired By AEW
Andrade El Idolo made headlines back in October when he was pulled from Dynamite and Rampage tapings at the last second. It was later revealed that the action was taken after he got into a physical confrontation with Sammy Guevara following a spat on social media.
It was reported after the incident that Andrade was attempting to get fired as he wants to return to WWE.
