CM Punk has proven to be one of the divisive figures in professional wrestling, and if reports are to be believed, even in the AEW locker room.
The star is set to be back in action on June 17th, but it has been reported that not everyone is delighted to have the former World Champion back. However, speaking to Alistair McGeorge for The Metro, Jamie Hayter had nothing but praise for the star.
The former AEW Women’s Champion said that she’d only ever had good experiences with Punk, adding that people would be fools not to want to work with him and utilise his experience.
“From my experience with him, he was always very, very pleasant.
Very helpful, and I always had really great conversations with him about wrestling. He’s a wealth of knowledge because he’s been in the business for so long, and he’s got extensive experience.
You’d kind of be a fool to not want to pick his brain and not want to work with the guy. He knows what he’s doing!”
Hayter went on to describe Punk as one of the most gripping performers in the entire industry, paying tribute to his popularity.
“He was one of the most gripping performers in professional wrestling. The Summer of Punk, all of that, everyone was so into it and there was a reason why he was the most popular wrestler,” she said.
To be honest, I would say he’s still incredibly popular now, regardless of the All Out stuff and the drama. He’s still a big name and he’s still wanted in the business.”
Jamie Hayter has been out of action since losing the Women’s Championship to Toni Storm at Double or Nothing.
CM Punk Controversy Rages On
Just 24 hours before CM Punk is due to get back in the ring, an interview is due to be released with the star which will reportedly create even more controversy. While Punk didn’t say anything which violates recent agreements with AEW, some within the company feel these new comments are “needlessly inflammatory.”
