While Danhausen is widely credited for giving the Gunn Club their “Ass Boys” nickname, one AEW star claims to be the original to use the term!
Austin and Colten Gunn might call themselves the Gunn Club, but the pair are just as widely known as the Ass Boys after the very nice, very evil Danhausen popularized the term long before he signed with AEW. The name alludes to their father Billy Gunn’s WWE past as Mr. Ass.
However, it appears that Danhausen wasn’t the first to coin the term. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, AEW star Peter Avalon revealed that he came up with the nickname “Ass Boy” before Colten Gunn was even a part of AEW.
“Yeah, like way before. Me and Shawn Spears wrestled against Austin and Billy, Colten wasn’t there yet. Me being The Librarian, I got to talk on the mic, I can’t remember what I said exactly. But it was something like ‘Billy. Billy Gunn and son. What does that make you? The Ass Boy?’ There was Ass Boy chants going on and everything, it was fun. It was on Dark and it is on my Twitter. It’s alright, my check will come.”
The Gunn Club recently shocked the world when they turned on their partners The Acclaimed, breaking up the popular faction.
