Chris Jericho has addressed negative reaction from AEW fans.
In recent weeks, Jericho has been closely associated with Hook, with whom the former World Champion sees a lot of potential in. As the young star did not want to sit under The Learning Tree and take advice from Jericho, the veteran challenged Hook to a match at AEW Dynasty with the FTW Championship on the line.
At the pay-per-view, Jericho received a hostile reception from the crowd who chanted for him to retire. The fan reaction only got worse when Jericho defeated the rising star and became the new FTW Champion, adding to the many accolades of his career.
With Big Bill approaching Jericho on the next episode of Dynamite and requesting guidance from the new FTW Champion, there is more to be told with this story, something Jericho believes the fans are impatient about.
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Jericho discussed wrestling fans and stated that the majority want to know everything beforehand instead of letting the story play out, adding that the fans don’t know as much as they think they do:
“I think a lot of people … want to know everything all upfront. Just sit back. We do have long-term story ideas and thoughts and plans. … As knowledgeable as fans think they are at times, they still really don’t know.”
Continuing, Jericho said that there is no set timeframe for wrestling storylines:
“That’s how you tell great stories. Some of them are a month long, some of them are six months long, some of them are a year long. That’s just how it goes in wrestling.”
