AEW Star Cash Wheeler Set For Trial For Aggravated Assault With A Firearm

Cash Wheeler

AEW’s Cash Wheeler, real name Daniel Wheeler, is set to appear in court later in the year.

Back in August 2023, Wheeler was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm following an incident that took place the month prior. The incident in question was described as a bout of road rage where the former AEW Tag Team Champion “flashed a gun” at the occupants of the other vehicle, whom Wheeler did not know.

Wheeler turned himself in on August 17th after a warrant was issued for his arrest in Orange County Florida. Wheeler was arraigned the next day and was ordered to pay a $2,500 bond. Despite the arrest taking place so close to the All In show at Wembley Stadium in London, Wheeler and partner Dax Harwood would compete at the event against The Young Bucks.

With the case seemingly closed as Wheeler agreed to the terms of the arraignment, a new update on February 6th noted that Cash Wheeler was facing criminal charges for the firearm assault. As reported by PWInsider, Wheeler was set to be arraigned once again on February 20th but did not appear. The court has set a trial date for May 20th and a pre-trial hearing for May 7th. The court has ordered that Wheeler must be in attendance for the pre-trial hearing.

It is also noted that aggravated assault with a firearm is a third-degree felony in Florida. If convicted, Wheeler faces up to five years imprisonment along with five years probation and a $5,000 fine.

Neither Wheeler nor AEW has made a statement regarding the update to the charges. Wheeler is scheduled to compete on the next episode of Dynamite on February 21st.

What Happened The Last Time Cash Wheeler Appeared Before A Judge?

Video footage from Cash Wheeler’s arraignment was posted online. Wheeler’s attorney stated that the wrestler had no previous convictions and reiterated that Wheeler’s use of the firearm was an act of road rage. With this being a first offence and Wheeler having no prior contact with the alleged victims, Wheeler was ordered to pay the bond, not have any contact with the occupants of the other vehicle and surrender any firearms that he was in possession of.

In May 2024, a new update on Cash Wheeler’s criminal case was provided.
