According to a new report, one of the stars of AEW sustained a broken nose during their title bout at Battle of the Belts III.
The third edition of AEW’s Battle of the Belts saw Wardlow put his TNT Championship on the line against Jay Lethal, Konosuke Takeshita clash with Claudio Castagnoli over the ROH World Championship and Thunder Rosa defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Jamie Hayter.
All three champions successfully retained their titles at the event, but according to a report from Fightful Select, not all of the challengers came away unscathed.
The report notes that during the women’s title bout, Jamie Hayter suffered a broken nose. According to F4WOnline.com, The injury occurred when Hayter delivered a Sheer Drop Brainbuster to Rosa. Rosa’s knee inadvertently hit Hayter’s face during the move and she began clutching it before making a pin attempt.
Despite the injury, Hayter continued the match until she lost by roll-up. While her nose didn’t bleed during the bout, it looked like it had shifted to one side during a close-up.
It is currently unknown if Hayter will need to take any time off. As a result of the injury, however, she has pulled out of a scheduled appearance at an Icons of Wrestling event on August 7th.
