Is this top AEW star coming back to WWE?
A couple of years ago, a former Raw Tag Team Champion made the switch from WWE to AEW. Soon enough, the wrestler found stardom in Tony Khan’s promotion. Joining hands with Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews became an essential part of The House of Black.
Before his jump, Matthews also known as Buddy Murphy was involved in a faction with Seth Rollins. Currently married to Rhea Ripley, the former Trios Champion opened up on the speculations of his return to the Stamford-based promotion.
Speaking in an interview with Wrestle Radio Australia, Murphy addressed whether the rumors of his return affect his current run.
It doesn’t impact anything. It’s.. anything that is on Insta, Twitter, or what’s it called? X, X? I don’t even use it. It’s just called negative to me. Like there is nothing positive on that. It’s just where people can honestly feel better about It doesn’t do anything positive in the world. This is my perception of it. So, the ideas of listening to people talk contracts and you can speculate, but when you’re putting it on a forum to try and generate either a negative, because you’re trying to generate a negative reaction regardless, because it’s not ever put in a positive way. You’re just trying to get people on your side.
So, it doesn’t affect me because I don’t even look at it. The performance doesn’t affect that because i have a job that needs to be done. So, the speculation is fine, but it doesn’t affect me. I guess it’s a long thing. But, yeah, I need to get that thing out that what people say and how they determine it and what they want to put out, that doesn’t, like, it’s in one area. It’s look and move past. I feel like a lot of people on Twitter think that they have enough power and they’re trying to generate a reaction. But to be fair, no one’s giving a shit.”

Matthews was last involved in a four-way match against Dante Martin and Komander and The Beast Mortos at the Full Gear Zero-Hour.
Buddy Matthews’ AEW Partner Malakai Black Also Rumored For A WWE Return
While Tony Khan had recently dropped some hints about Malakai Black’s AEW status, he was recently rumored for a WWE return. Aware of the speculations online, Malakai Black earlier this month shared his intentions with a social media post.
I’m not injured nor am I retiring or am I leaving. I feel this happens every match I have, and I don’t understand how many times you’re going to say these things and then them not happening and people are still going to fall for that. I haven’t been injured in more than three years. And I’m referring to my back injury of course, and I only posted about that after it was already done. And if you would have read the post, you would have seen that and not read what other people have written about it.
“I’m fine, I’ve been fine for the longest time. I would really appreciate it if that stuff stops, man. If I’m going to retire, you’re going to hear it from me and not after Adam just cuts a promo just as a thank you for the match. Because that’s all it was. So, thank you.”
