AEW Star Adam Copeland Undergoes Successful Surgery

Adam Copeland has officially begun his road to recovery.

Following the events that took place at the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view, the former TNT Champion confirmed that he suffered a fractured tibia and that he would require surgery.

Posting an update on his Instagram page, Copeland appeared on crutches and stated in the video that June 4th was the first morning post-surgery. Curious to see what he was able to do following the operation, The Rated R Superstar walked through his own “Forbidden Door” and into his home gym. While multiple exercises are strictly off-limits, he is still able to plank.

Adam Copeland Previously Addressed Major Injury

Competing in a barbed wire steel cage match against Malakai Black at the pay-per-view, the match will be remembered for Copeland’s dive from the top of the cage that saw the former World Champion come crashing down feet-first onto the mat, with many suspecting an injury as soon as he landed. In a previous video, Adam Copeland said the following about the dive:

“Anyway, yeah, I’ve been feeling really good lately. Been having so much fun in the ring [but] I got cocky, which is what it really boils down to and I am probably a narcissist and an egomaniac and I’ll unpack that one day. But yeah, my brain forgets what my body remembers a little late. I’m 50 and I need to make better choices, so my body pulled the emergency brake the other night. I ended up fracturing my tibia, which is gonna require surgery, don’t know the timeframe on that yet.”

Copeland was reigning as the TNT Champion when he suffered the injury. On the following episode of Dynamite, a match to crown the next champion was announced.

In more positive news, one AEW star has been cleared to compete.

Adam Copeland has since looked back on the AEW dive and described it as “less a leap and more a fall.”

Everyone at Inside The Ropes continues to wish Adam Copeland a full and speedy recovery.
