AEW Revolution 2022 Predictions

AEW Revolution Graphic

With the third edition of AEW Revolution on the horizon, we take a look at the matches on the card and predict who will emerge from Orlando victorious.

The build-up to AEW Revolution on March 6th has come at a turbulent time in company history following the stunning exit of one of the promotion’s cornerstones and EVPs, Cody Rhodes. Tony Khan shocked the wrestling world once again on Dynamite when he announced that he had purchased Ring Of Honor.

Despite all this, the company has put together one of the most highly-anticipated cards in history, with twelve matches scheduled for Sunday’s show with three of those taking place on The Buy In. So who will walk away the winners from AEW Revolution?

HOOK vs QT Marshall

HOOK has become a fast favourite with AEW fans with his decisive wins and impressive showing since making his in-ring debut in December 2021. One person who has taken exception to the cold-hearted handsome devil’s success is his former trainer, QT Marshall. Marshall has berated HOOK repeatedly despite the 22-year-old star frequently throwing him around with exceptional ease.

Winner: HOOK

‘Legit’ Leyla Hirsch vs Kris Statlander

These former friends have been at odds with one another after Hirsch underwent a change in attitude and turned on both Statlander and Red Velvet. Hirsch got the best of Red Velvet when the two women faced off at Beach Break but now she looks to take her frustrations out on The Galaxy’s Favourite Alien but with Statlander’s pedigree, a legit win for Hirsch looks unlikely.

Winner: Kris Statlander

House Of Black vs Penta Oscuro, PAC, Erick Redbeard

The feud between these teams has taken a turn to the dark side with Penta embracing his demons to emerge as Penta Oscuro on Dynamite. Despite Penta and PAC defeating The Kings Of The Black Throne, the tables were turned back in the House Of Black’s favour when Buddy Matthews debuted for AEW and joined Malakai Black and Brody King.

On Rampage, Alex Abrahantes revealed Death Triangle’s secret weapon with Rey Fenix still on the injured list after his brutal arm injury. Erick Redbeard -formerly known as Erick Rowan in WWE – made his presence felt as he marched to the ring, clearing out the House Of Black and the security that tried to stop him.

Will Redbeard’s presence be enough to help Death Triangle to victory or will he ultimately honour the House?

Winner: House Of Black

Jade Cargill vs Tay Conti – TBS Championship

Jade Cargill has been so dominant during her AEW career that she now has to issue open challenges for her TBS Championship as she has mowed through so much of the competition in the company.

Not one to back away from a challenge, Tay Conti answered Cargill’s call in an emphatic fashion as she looks to take her career to the next level after failing to unseat Dr Britt Baker DMD for her AEW Women’s Championship at Full Gear. Ultimately though, despite this possibly being Jade Cargill’s toughest test to date, the impressive Cargill should emerge with her title, leaving her to ask again “who’s next?”

Winner: Jade Cargill

Andrade El Idolo, Matt Hardy & Isiah Kassidy vs Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin & Sting

Despite being rivals for the TNT Championship Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara are putting any differences aside to take on the AHFO alongside the legendary Sting.

Ultimately, this match is about the state of the AHFO which has been on shaky ground when Andrade El Idolo got involved with Matt Hardy’s outfit. This could be the turning point in the story with Matt Hardy’s “erratic behaviour” either costing his team accidentally or on purpose, with the impending debut of Jeff Hardy in AEW seemingly imminent.

Winner: Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin & Sting

Jurassic Express vs reDRagon vs Young Bucks – AEW Tag Team Championship

The challengers for Jurassic Express’ tag team titles emerged from two battle royals held on consecutive episodes of Dynamite. Kyle O’Reilly used every bit of his wrestling brain to trick Matt Jackson in the first of those bouts, winning the title shot for reDRagon and causing more tension in The Elite.

The teams seemed to be back on the same page when The Young Bucks managed to capture the second challenger’s spot in the match with Matt Jackson eliminating the returning Darius Martin of Top Flight for the win.

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus only won the AEW Tag Team Championship from the Lucha Brothers and have defended the belts three times, all on Rampage. Their title run has been relatively low-profile compared to others and the wily Fish and O’Reilly could play the Jackson brothers like a fiddle once again to emerge victorious.

Winner: reDRagon

Jon Moxley vs Bryan Danielson

Violence, violence, blood, and violence. That’s a surefire prediction from what is sure to be a show stealing match between the two former WWE Champions. Danielson instigated this situation with Jon Moxley as he asked the Wild Thing to form a team that could run roughshod over the rest of AEW. Moxley told The American Dragon that before he stands with someone, he needs to bleed with them first, and that’s what’s likely to happen at Revolution.

Moxley is undefeated since making his AEW return in January 2022 but Danielson’s only singles loss in AEW came at the hands of AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page. No matter who wins this, the real question is can and will both men stand together after knocking the living daylights out of each other? If they do, the rest of the AEW roster better watch out.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Keith Lee vs Orange Cassidy vs Wardlow vs Christian Cage vs Ricky Starks vs Powerhouse Hobbs – Face Of The Revolution Ladder Match

The ladder match to win a shot at the TNT Championship is absolutely stacked this year at Revolution. A mix of youth and experience will look to grab the brass ring with Christian Cage’s history in ladder matches a cause for concern to the rest of the field.

Team Taz has the numbers advantage with both Hobbs and Starks possibly looking to work together to ensure one of them wins the title shot. Keith Lee will be looking to make a big impression and prove that he is truly limitless in his first pay-per-view match in AEW.

Orange Cassidy’s best hope of victory is his newfound friend Danhausen offering a curse or five onto the other stars in the bout but the man to watch is undoubtedly Wardlow.

The seeds have already been sewn for Mr. Mayhem finally snapping at MJF and the rest of The Pinnacle. With MJF already telling Wardlow that he’ll be forced to hand over the TNT Title should he win the match and go on to become champion, it’s looking increasingly likely that Wardlow is going to leave Revolution with a big decision to make.

Winner: Wardlow

Chris Jericho vs Eddie Kingston

To say this feud has gotten personal would underplay the fact every feud Eddie Kingston is involved in is personal. With Kingston displaying his manipulative best in coming between Inner Circle, Jericho responded in his own bombastic style, telling Kingston that he was jealous of Le Champion.

Eddie Kingston’s contempt for Jericho is plain for all to see but many onlookers have commented that this feud has seen the first-ever AEW World Champion back to his best.

If Kingston finally wins the big one, Chris Jericho says he’ll offer a handshake and say that he respects him, whether Kingston wants to reciprocate is highly unlikely.

Winner: Eddie Kingston

Dr. Britt Baker DMD vs Thunder Rosa – AEW Women’s World Championship

Almost a year since these women locked up in the incredible Lights Out Match at St. Patrick’s Day Slam, both stars are still somewhat defined by that brutal fight.

Despite winning the bout, Thunder Rosa had to watch on as Baker was propelled into the stratosphere as she soon went on to become AEW Women’s World Champion. La Mera Mera on the other hand has racked up the wins in AEW but has struggled to reach the same heights as her opponent.

Thunder Rosa appears to have been able to negate Baker’s numbers advantage of Rebel and Jamie Hayter with Mercedes Martinez watching her back. Will it be enough?

Winner: Dr. Britt Baker DMD

CM Punk vs MJF – Dog Collar Match

If MJF truly wants to be “Piper in Portland” he got his wish when CM Punk offered to be his valentine in a Dog Collar Match at Revolution.

The two masters of the microphone have continued their story following MJF defeating Punk in highly controversial circumstances in Punk’s home city of Chicago – twice. The three-time Dynamite Diamond ring winner gave an all-time great promo when he discussed what The Best In The World meant to a poor bullied youth in Plainview, Long Island. This coming before MJF and The Pinnacle left Punk in a bloody mess one week later.

The winner of this match has surely got to be in contention for a future shot at the AEW World Championship and depending on what happens earlier in the night, MJF might have worries closer to home when he finally escapes from the dog collar at the end of the match.

Winner: CM Punk

Hangman Adam Page vs Adam Cole – AEW World Championship

AEW Revolution’s main event sees the company return to its embryonic roots as two men that have both called themselves Elite and part of Bullet Club face off for the AEW World Title.

Adam Cole has made the most of the opportunity afforded to him given Kenny Omega’s hiatus as he bolstered The Elite’s ranks with reDRagon and, albeit briefly, Switchblade Jay White. Cole’s overall 2022 record of 6-0 put him in the box seat to challenge Adam Page as the Hangman looks to hang on to the title he won at Full Gear.

Page has defended the championship against Bryan Danielson in two incredible matches, the first of which went to a sixty-minute time limit draw. Adam Page then defeated Danielson in a rematch and escaped a brutal Texas Death Match against Lance Archer with his title intact.

Winner: Hangman Adam Page
