On the October 6th episode of AEW Dynamite, it was revealed that a brand new championship is heading to AEW!
At the top of the second hour of Dynamite, Tony Schiavone took to the ring flanked by Aubrey Edwards. Schiavone commented on AEW’s second anniversary and reflected on the success of the TNT Championship. The legendary commentator then reiterated that Dynamite will be moving to TBS in January 2022 and a new championship will be accompanying the move!
With the help of Edwards, Schiavone unveiled the new TBS Championship which will act as a second title in the AEW women’s division. It was then revealed that the first-ever champion will be crowned via a tournament. No dates for the tournament have been announced.
After the announcement, Thunder Rosa, Jade Cargill, Ruby Soho and Skye Blue cut promos backstage declaring their intention to take part in the tournament and be crowned TBS Champion.

Elsewhere on the show, Sammy Guevara successfully defended his TNT Championship against Bobby Fish. After a hard-hitting contest, Guevara hit the GTH out of nowhere to pick up the win.
Meanwhile, CM Punk challenged Daniel Garcia to a match on Rampage.
The cracks also continued to grow between Cody Rhodes and his coach Arn Anderson. The Hall of Famer was shown at Cody’s house standing next to a fire which he promptly stoked by throwing in a suit. After Rhodes came to confront Anderson, the legend slapped the American Nightmare.
