Tony Khan has seemingly been busy with another big name reportedly joining the ranks of AEW in the very near future.
Fightful Select has reported that Shane “Swerve” Strickland who previously competed in WWE as Isaiah “Swerve” Scott is set to become All Elite. Their report adds that the assumption since January within the company was that Swerve was going to join the company, with the deal said to take effect in the first week of March.
The report adds that there has been talk of Strickland being seen as a cross-over star in AEW with several talents in the company said to be considered for Warner Media shows over the past year.
Strickland has already been booked for GCW and has appeared for New Japan Pro Wrestling but hasn’t signed a contract with NJPW.
As Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, he captured the NXT North American Championship during his time with WWE. His group, Hit Row, was called up to SmackDown in the WWE Draft but B-Fab was released just weeks later with the rest of the group including Swerve let go just days after that.
Keith Lee recently joined the company after his non-compete clause following his WWE release expired. A big-name signing had been teased by Tony Khan before Lee’s debut for the company on the 9th of February edition of Dynamite. The Limitless One defeated Private Party’s Isiah Kassidy to qualify for the Face Of The Revolution ladder match to take place at AEW’s next pay-per-view.
In addition to this signing, another big-name free agent in the wrestling world is slated to be backstage at AEW Dynamite tonight.
Dynamite emanates from Bridgeport, Connecticut, and scheduled for the show is Jade Cargill defending her TBS Championship against The Bunny in what is Cargill’s fourth title defence.
The Kings Of The Black Throne will be in action as they continue their heated feud with Death Triangle. Many of the other tag teams in AEW will take part in the first of two Battle Royals to determine which two teams will challenge Jurassic Express for the AEW Tag Team Championship at Revolution.
