AEW taped the December 27th episode of AEW Rampage New Year’s Smash on December 22nd at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

Keith inadvertently struck Bowens with the belt, allowing Jericho to capitalise and secure the victory. - Private Party vs. Leo Sparrow & Alec Quest (Non-Title Tag Match):
AEW Tag Team Champions Private Party picked up a win in non-title action. After the match, Lio Rush and Action Andretti confronted the champions, sparking a brawl. Top Flight joined the fray, leading to a chaotic scene in which security had to break up. - Thunder Rosa vs. Leila Grey:
Thunder Rosa made a triumphant return to the ring, forcing Leila Grey to submit in a decisive performance. - Hook vs. Nick Wayne:
Hook earned a submission victory over Nick Wayne, despite interference from Christian Cage, Mother Wayne, and Kip Sabian. Katsuyori Shibata made a surprise appearance, chasing off the Patriarchy and allowing Hook to focus on his opponent.
