One AEW original’s contract is nearly up and a new deal has not yet been signed.
Dustin Rhodes has been a part of All Elite Wrestling since its first-ever Double or Nothing in May of 2019, and in recent months, he’s found success in Tony Khan‘s Ring of Honor as both an ROH World Tag Team Champion and an ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion.
Despite currently holding both of these titles, a new report from Fightful Select reveals that The Natural has yet to re-sign with AEW. Fightful confirmed that his contract is due to expire in September. According to the report, Rhodes has been instrumental in helping the women’s division behind the scenes in addition to his success on-screen.
Is Dustin Rhodes Planning To Retire After AEW Contract Expires?
Back in July, Rhodes confirmed that his contract would be expiring in September but hit back at rumors that he would be stepping away from the squared circle. Responding to a fan on social media, the star wrote:
Wrong! Jeeze guys, do better. Yes my contract is up in September, and No, I am absolutely NOT DONE. Having the best matches of my life and hopefully, God willing I will get to retire on my own terms, respected with a full heart. Hopefully Negotiations go well because I am damn worth the world. The only things that matter to me are: taking care of my family first and foremost, and finishing up when I am ready, and how I envision my retirement. So hold off guys, This biz is my life and I love doing it for you, while still having fun and able. #KeepSteppin and thank you all for your continued love and support!
In a previous interview, Dustin Rhodes addressed his time in AEW and how much longer he plans to wrestle.
