An AEW original has opened up on his love for the business.
In 2019 during its inception, several independent wrestlers and WWE superstars jumped ships to join the newly launched promotion. The talents joined hands with Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Tony Khan to start the promotion.
And now after five years, one of the originals, Dustin Rhodes has opened up about his love for the Jacksonville-based promotion. The current ROH World Tag-Team Champion and the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship Rhodes shared on X (Twitter), how much he loves the company.
I love AEW!! For 5 yrs I have been on this “One Last Ride”, and I have loved it. This place is good for my soul!”
Last night on Collision, Rhodes and Sammy Guevara defeated The Undisputed Kingdom in a Bloody Bunkhouse Brawl and retained their ROH World Tag-Team Championships. Previously, heavily rumored to part ways with the promotion and join WWE, ‘The Natural’ has allegedly revealed his love and loyalty for his current company.
When Will AEW Talent Dustin Rhodes Retire?
At 55 years old, Rhodes is arguably in the best shape of his life. In a social media post a few months ago, Dustin Rhodes shed light on his retirement plans. He commented:
Yes my contract is up in September, and No, I am absolutely NOT DONE. Having the best matches of my life and hopefully, God willing I will get to retire on my own terms, respected with a full heart. Hopefully Negotiations go well because I am damn worth the world.”
Currently, a champion, there are no updates on Rhodes’ contract renewal status, although he has indicated extending his time at the promotion.
