A new report has claimed that another former WWE Superstar could be about to sign with AEW.
EJ Nduka signed with WWE in 2019 after impressing at two tryouts. The Texan had previously enjoyed a successful college career before finding success as a professional bodybuilder. However, despite his impressive athletic background Nduka never appeared on NXT television, only wrestling twice at live events.
Nduka was released by WWE in 2021 and was immediately snapped up by MLW, however his contract with the promotion expired in January.
The star recently made his AEW debut at the most recent set of Dark tapings against Konosuke Takeshita. That match aired on February 7th and it has now been reported that Nduka has been offered a contract by the company.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that while a contract had been offered, it is unclear as to whether it has been signed.
“After his debut in a streaming match against Konosuke Takeshita, EJ Nduka was offered a full-time contract. We can’t confirm if he signed it but can confirm he was offered it.”
Konosuke Takeshita Joined AEW Despite Reported Interest From WWE
Konosuke Takeshita is also a fairly recent AEW signing, although he enjoyed a spell with the company through the summer of 2022. Takeshita eventually put pen to paper with AEW in November, despite reports that he could fit the bill for WWE as they heightened their search for a new Japanese star.
However, the man himself was quick to distance himself from the speculation, explaining that he only wanted to join AEW.
Since moving to the United States and joining AEW full-time Takeshita has wrestled the likes of Jon Moxley and Brian Cage while his most recent match with World Champion MJF ended in defeat on February 8th.
