Dax Harwood recently came to the defence of former AEW World Champion CM Punk.
Speaking on the first episode of his podcast, FTR, Harwood said that he hoped Punk could return to AEW and work with The Elite once again. The tag team star also claimed that Punk never wanted to be World Champion and was extremely happy to be part of All Elite Wrestling.
CM Punk hasn’t featured on AEW television since his explosive appearance at the post-All Out media scrum. After taking issue with multiple members of the AEW locker room, a brawl erupted backstage involving Punk, Ace Steel and The Elite. At the time all involved were suspended but everyone barring Punk and Steel have returned to work. Steel has left the company altogether, while Punk continues his recovery from triceps surgery, although he is not expected to wrestle in AEW again.
Some In AEW Unhappy With Dax Hardwood’s Defence Of CM Punk
Speaking on the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, both Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer said they had heard from people who were unhappy with the comments from Harwood. Furthermore, Alvarez stated that he believes CM Punk will not return to AEW.
Meltzer: “From what I heard from different people, not the people who you probably heard from, they were not particularly happy at all about this.”
Alvarez: “All I heard the other day was how unhappy people were about that podcast.”
Meltzer added that he feels AEW need to call a company meeting to address the issues that continue to surround the company.
“This is what they need, I’ve said this before and they’ve done it. They need a team meeting on Wednesday in Seattle. They need to get this stuff cleared up and get everyone on the same page because they’re not…”
Following the comments from Harwood it was reported that Chris Jericho was among a number of top AEW star who assured the locker room that CM Punk would not be back.
