The AEW media rights announcement could be coming as soon as Wednesday, October 2nd according to a new report.
Although there has been uncertainty regarding the relationship between All Elite Wrestling and Warner Bros. Discovery and whether the 2 sides could actually agree to a new deal, previous reports have indicated that a new AEW media rights deal is effectively in place and just needs to be made official with a public announcement.
In a new update by Dave Meltzer, the announcement is said to be “just about ready” and is expected to be made on Wednesday as the 5th-anniversary episode of Dynamite will air that day:
An announcement is just about ready for the new WBD and AEW media rights deal. I think the announcement will only mention a deal, the stations but not necessarily everything that the deal entails. But as we’ve reported weeks ago, the deal has been completed. It’s possible it’ll be Wednesday in conjunction with the fifth anniversary.
Elaborating on the post on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer added that he believes the length of the deal and an update on plans for pay-per-views but does not expect there to be a figure released regarding what the deal is worth. Meltzer also added that he has not heard anything in relation to Swerve Strickland’s comments about AEW having a show on Fox.
It should also be noted that as All Elite Wrestling is not a public company they are under no obligation to disclose the financial details of the new deal.
