AEW has been in business since 2019. The company has four shows: Dynamite, Dark, Dark Elevation, and Rampage. Through all four shows there has been a sense of homogeneity that has caused a lack of real distinction between shows and their respective purposes. But that will be changing in 2023.
Expect changes to AEW programming in 2023
According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW hired another individual and this time it wasn’t yet another wrestler. This time, it was a new office person named Michael Mansury. Mansury already has experience in the wrestling business as he is WWE’s now-former Vice President of Global TV Production.
Mansury is being brought in as part of a joint project between AEW President Tony Khan, Warner Bros, and Discovery to improve AEW’s overall production. The goal of this project is to make changes to AEW programming, specifically Dynamite.
It has been noted that Mansury has already started appearing backstage at AEW but has yet to actually begin proposing or making any changes at this time.
It is expected that whatever changes AEW makes won’t come into effect until January 2023 at the earliest. It is also unknown whether said changes will be exclusive to Dynamite or whether similar things will be done to Rampage and other shows.
As AEW’s flagship show, Dynamite has featured most of the company’s biggest moments throughout the company’s three-year history. There are several annual shows taking place each year including the anniversary show, Winter is Coming, and Grand Slam. There have also been some one-time specials as well including Chris Jericho’s 30th Anniversary Celebration, MJF’s Long Island Homecoming, and the Brodie Lee Celebration of Life.
The next big episodes of Dynamite are Holiday Bash on December 21st and New Year’s Smash on the 28th. Scheduled matches for the 21st include the next match in the Elite vs. Death Triangle Best of Seven series and a Women’s Championship match between Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida.
The following week, meanwhile, will include the sixth Elite vs. Death Triangle match (assuming The Elite wins on the 21st) which will be a Falls Count Anywhere match, and Samoa Joe defending his TNT Title against Wardlow.
