An AEW veteran has shut down the possibility of retirement.
Jim Ross, who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and will be undergoing surgery soon, stated that he wants to continue working and not retire.
In a recent episode of Grilling JR With Jim Ross, the beloved AEW announcer told Conrad Thompson he does not wish to put down the mic. He intends to keep working and elevate young talent once he is healthy again. JR said:
“I’ll find a shot and I’ll continue on with it, but I’m not gonna, this is crazy on the eve of the hours before my surgery it’s crazy to say, I don’t plan on retiring. I plan on getting healthy and getting well and coming back and doing something or somebody. And we’ll see how that works out.”
Could Jim Ross Appear At AEW All In 2025?
Also discussed during the special live stream was AEW’s upcoming All In PPV, scheduled for July 12. On being asked if he plans to be a part of the promotion’s first stadium show in America, The Voice of Wrestling sounded optimistic.
Jim Ross revealed that the procedure he will undergo would give him enough time to recover and get going in a few weeks.
“Hell yeah. I think so. why not? The convalesce time to recover is not long. There’s sort of soreness and things like that that affected, it because I’m getting cut. I think I’m actually getting a laser, a guy’s doing the same by a computer, surgery by computer, which is kind of unique. But I think I’ll be up and able to go in a couple of weeks”
