A new report has claimed that AEW’s Chief Legal Officer has sent a warning to WWE instructing them not to tamper with their talent.
Ahead of the August 24th episode of AEW Dynamite it was reported that the company were holding a mandatory meeting for all talent. At the time of the report it was unknown as to exactly what the meeting would involve, but it was expected it would be used to address recent suggestions that there is unrest backstage.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider has now appeared to shed some light on what exactly went down in that meeting. Johnson notes that Tony Khan was “very animated and impassioned” while breaking down many of the new structures that have been implemented in recent weeks. The idea being that these changes will improve things for talent.
Earlier in August AEW announced a reshuffle and expansion of their Talent Relations department which saw promotions for the likes of Tony Schiavone and QT Marshall.
During the meeting, Khan “made it clear” that AEW was in an industry “that has long been dominated by WWE” and that he had done all he could to improve things for talents.
Khan also revealed to the locker room that Megha Parekh, AEW’s Chief Legal Officer and the promotion’s second in command had emailed WWE’s Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon, warning them “not to tamper” with talent.
In closing, the report notes that Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Tony Schiavone, and Chris Jericho all spoke at the meeting, although it what was said remains unknown.
