AEW are reportedly interested in signing both Toni Storm and Athena, formerly known as Ember Moon.
On the March 25th episode of AEW Rampage it was announced that the first Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament qualifier would take place on Dynamite on March 30th. The bout will feature The Bunny taking on a mystery opponent.
This announcement kick-started speculation around potential new signings, especially as a number of high-profile female wrestlers remain free agents. These include Toni Storm, Athena, who was known as Ember Moon in WWE and Nixon Newell, formerly known as Tegan Nox.
It has now been suggested that there is “significant interest” from the company in signing Toni Storm. The report from Fightful Select, states that not only do a number of stars expect Storm to sign with AEW, but have been actively pushing for her to be brought in.
There have also been what is described as “light talks” between AEW and Athena. However, this was said to be more of a feeling out process which began when she was first released by WWE in November 2021. Despite this, there doesn’t appear to be much urgency regarding a deal, with Fightful noting that the star is very selective over her bookings.
Finally, with regard to Nixon Newell, as of a “couple of weeks ago” she’s been trying to sort out “visa situations.” The former star hasn’t wrestled since leaving WWE on November 18th.
Toni Storm recently followed Scarlett Bordeaux and Chelsea Green among others in launching an exclusive content account. The star earned a staggering $20,000 in a matter of hours after her account went live on March 19th.
