AEW Hits Number 1 on Cable For The First Time in Their History

The ratings for the May 5th episode of AEW Dynamite have been revealed.

As reported by ShowBuzzDaily, AEW drew in 1.090 million viewers, with a 0.42 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic.

This is a figure is up from the previous week where Dynamite had 889,000 viewers. The rating also means that AEW were the number one ranked show on cable for the first time in their history.

By comparison the May 4th episode of NXT pulled in 761,000 viewers, With a 0.18 rating in the key 18-49 year-old demographic.

The latest episode of AEW Dynamite was the highly anticipated Blood and Guts special. In a blood-soaked main event, The Pinnacle overcame The Inner Circle. The two factions went to war inside the huge metal structure but it was what happened after the match that grabbed the headlines.

As the match headed towards its finale MJF and Chris Jericho climbed to the top of the cage. The pair traded submissions until MJF threatened to throw Jericho all the way to the floor. The threats eventually worked with Sammy Guevara surrendering on behalf of The Inner Circle to save Jericho. However in a shocking twist, MJF pushed ‘The Demo God’ from the cage anyway. The show went off the air with Jericho receiving medial attention after the fall.

Earlier on in the show SCU defeated The Varsity Blonds, The Acclaimed and the Jurassic Express to earn a shot at the AEW Tag Team Titles. SCU will face The Young Bucks on next week’s show.

Elsewhere, Cody Rhodes overcame QT Marshall, and Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston saw off Kenny Omega and Nakazawa. Later on in the night it was revealed that Kenny Omega will defend his AEW World Championship against either PAC or Orange Cassidy at Double or Nothing. PAC and Cassidy will meet on the May 12th edition of Dynamite.
