A former WWE Superstar recently credited AEW for their role in changing an infamous WWE culture.
In January last year, Vince McMahon resigned from all his positions in World Wrestling Entertainment and TKO after reports of his involvement in the Janel Grant sexual assault and trafficking case were made public. Following this, Triple H took over as the Stamford-based promotion’s new creative head, and Carlito believes it brought forward several significant changes in the promotion’s ‘bullying culture,’ which was prevalent under McMahon.
In a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, Carlito articulated the massive influence of Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling on the evolution of WWE, highlighting the impact of solid competition:
I don’t mean to knock on Vince [McMahon], but, you know, he seemed to have his certain things you have to do this way and the next day it changed, whatever, you know, certain rules, just stupidity. They liked people walking around on eggshells. Because it was the only game in town and they liked the boys knowing that, you know what I mean? I think now that with AEW being around too, it’s helped. They cant — they know they can’t bully because there’s other places for people to go. That’s added to it.”
The former Judgment Day member further said:
But I think Hunter’s done a good job too of just cleaning all that crap out. Plus, it’s just a new generation, you just can’t get away with certain things you could before, you know what I mean? And I just like that a bunch of that BS is gone now. People just go there, show up, and do their work.” [H/T: f4wonline]
Vince McMahon was known for having several strict and weird rules in place during his time at the helm, which ‘The Caribbean Bad Apple’ now believes have gone away due to the rising competition from the Jacksonville-based promotion and their culture.
Carlito is now officially a free agent and open to taking bookings from other promotions.
A Former WWE Star Now Wants To Join AEW
A part of the major May 2nd releases, former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Shotzi Blackheart has now expressed her desire to join All Elite Wrestling. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show, she said:
I love their freedom. I have a lot of friends there who are doing really awesome things. I’ve heard many stories of how Tony treats talent. So yeah, I do love that he really cares for his talent. That is super important to me.”
“And like, hot girls get to make out with each other.”
In other news: Triple H was allegedly not a big fan of this wrestler’s character.
