Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks have featured heavily at the top of AEW in recent months as their rivalry with the Blackpool Combat Club hits new levels of violence.
After Don Callis turned on Omega during the car’s Steel Cage match with Jon Moxley, the two warring factions met in Anarchy in the Arena at Double or Nothing. The climax of which saw another betrayal as Konosuke Takeshita aligned with Callis and the BCC.
There has been a great deal of speculation around Omega and the Young Bucks in particular with the news that their contracts with AEW are running down. In fact, Omega’s deal had been due to expire earlier in 2023 but was extended due to the time he’s spent injured in recent years.
While negotiations between the trio and AEW have been bubbling away in the background, it has now been reported that things are set to get more serious.
Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that AEW is pushing harder to get the deals over the line.
“AEW is getting more aggressive in trying to get the contracts of the Young Bucks & Kenny Omega completed.”
Kenny Omega To Bring New Faces Into AEW?
Kenny Omega was missing from the May 31st episode of Dynamite, and Hangman Adam Page shot down Alex Marvez when he suggested the star was recuperating in Canada.
This has sparked speculation that he could be in Japan recruiting former rival Kazuchika Okada or his old tag team partner, and free agent Kota Ibushi for the war against the BCC.
Some fans have even wondered whether Omega could appear at NJPW Dominion on June 4th. At the event, Will Ospreay will take on Lance Archer to determine a new number-one contender for the NJPW United States Heavyweight Championship that Omega holds.
