AEW EVP Reportedly Believes Cody Rhodes Is WWE-Bound

One AEW EVP believes that Cody Rhodes is still WWE-bound despite recent reports that suggested the company and Rhodes were far from an agreement.

The situation between WWE and Cody Rhodes remains far from clear-cut. Following recent reports that talks between the two sides had broken down, it was noted nothing had really changed regarding a deal.

Fightful Select has reported that multiple offers from different wrestling companies have been given to Cody Rhodes but his camp are saying nothing about the offers or where Rhodes is likely to end up.

The report continues by saying that “at least one EVP” in AEW believed that Cody Rhodes had signed or was about to sign with WWE and would be facing Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. The three other EVPs that helped form AEW alongside Rhodes were Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, and Matt Jackson.

WWE agents and producers are said to not have been briefed about an imminent debut for Rhodes and interestingly, the report adds that close to Cody were not aware that Damian Priest didn’t use his usual finisher The Reckoning on TV recently. The Reckoning is the same move that The American Nightmare calls Cross Rhodes.

Cody and Brandi Rhodes are confirmed to still be working on unscripted programming according to Fightful’s report but it is not confirmed if it is a second season of reality show Rhodes To The Top or something different.

Cody Rhodes announced that he and his wife Brandi had left AEW on February 15th, after his contract expired at the tail end of 2021. Rhodes last wrestled on January 26th where he was defeated by Sammy Guevara in a Ladder Match for the TNT Championship.
