AEW Elite General Manager was officially unveiled during the ‘AEW Games 1.0 Special Event’ and will be coming soon to Android and iOS devices.
Following the gameplay reveal of the AEW console video game, Aubrey Edwards took to the stage to reveal the game through a trailer featuring several AEW stars questioning if the player “had what it takes” including MJF, Cody, Big Swole and Jon Moxley.
In the trailer we see gameplay footage of the player signing AEW stars, booking their own matches and managing locker room morale, similar to the gameplay of the much-loved ‘GM Mode’ featured in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 editions of WWE SmackDown Vs RAW.
In a press release announcing the launch of AEW Games, AEW Elite Manager was described as an “evolution of the GM simulator genre”:
Developed by Crystallized Games, AEW Elite GM is the evolution of the GM simulator genre, taking the strategic elements of simulation and fantasy games to create a competitive and engaging space for the wrestling community to take part in, incorporating the expanding AEW brand and serving as a celebration of wrestling as a whole. Fans take on the role of GM, designing a roster of wrestlers, setting up matches, and running the show to generate revenue, new fans and effects on wrestlers’ stamina and morale.
The reveal comes just weeks after AEW filed trademarks for both ‘All Elite Wrestling: Elite General Manager’ and ‘Elite GM’ for video game purposes. Whilst it was originally speculated the trademarks could relate to a GM Mode in the upcoming AEW console game, it seems they are instead being used for an entirely separate mobile game.
AEW Elite General Manager will be available for Android and iOS devices in 2021. AEW Casino: Double Or Nothing, a casino mobile game, was also unveiled at the event and will be releasing later this year.
