A significant change to the planned AEW Dynasty lineup on April 6 has emerged due to an injury.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the AEW World Tag Team Championship will be defended in a yet-to-be-confirmed match, but the opponents for the defending champions, The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, have changed.
Originally, the Hurt Syndicate was set to face off against the Murder Machines, consisting of Brian Cage and Lance Archer. However, an unfortunate injury to Brian Cage has forced a shift in plans. Cage suffered a knee injury during a match on March 20 at an independent show in Los Angeles, where he faced Chris Masters. As a result, Cage will no longer be able to compete at the pay-per-view. Meltzer noted the change, writing:
“The tag title match was a change as Brian Cage suffered a knee injury on an independent show on 3/20 in Los Angeles against Chris Masters. So the originally planned but not announced Hurt Syndicate vs. Murder Machines match had to be changed and they had to pivot to new challengers, going with Bill & Keith.”
In place of the Murder Machines, Big Bill and Bryan Keith have been selected as the new challengers for Lashley and Benjamin.
Who Is Kenny Omega’s Opponent For AEW Dynasty?
In a shocking turn of events on the March 19 episode of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega’s opponents were confirmed for the upcoming AEW Dynasty pay-per-view in a four-way match that saw ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey and Ricochet score a simultaneous pinfall victory over Mark Davis, forcing the referee to call the match a tie between Bailey and Ricochet, meaning they will both face Omega at AEW Dynasty in a three-way match for the AEW International Championship.
