AEW Dynamite Draws Lowest Rating Since 2021

It was AEW Dynamite with Swerve Strickland in action along with a Kazuchika Okada match with Dax Harwood.

This episode took place at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington. The announcers were Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone.

Match #1: Blackpool Combat Club – Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley defeated Jeff Cobb & Kyle Fletcher by pinfall. Moxley won with Death Rider.

After the match, Konosuke Takeshita joined Cobb & Fletcher in attacking Danielson & Moxley. Claudio Castagnoli made the save.

Adam Copeland made his entrance as the TNT Champion when he was attacked by House of Black’s Brody King & Buddy Matthews. They went down to the ring where Malakai Black joined the attack. Black ordered Buddy to take Adam’s wedding ring from him and Black put it in his pocket. Kyle O’Reilly tried a save, but he was beaten up by House of Black. The HOB guys did a triple dropkick on Adam with two chairs crashing into him.

A video aired about The Elite beating up Eddie Kingston at a recent NJPW show. It was stated that Kingston is out of the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing.

There was a backstage interview with FTR talking to Renee Paquette. Cash Wheeler said they had a fourth guy for Anarchy in the Arena and Dax Harwood said it looked like Okada was The Elite’s bitch.

Match #2:The Young Bucks – Matthew & Nicholas Jackson defeated Matt Sydal & Christopher Daniels by pinfall. The Bucks won with their TK Driver.

After the match, Matthew Jackson fired Head of Talent Relations Christopher Daniels for being disrespectful to them.

Malakai Black was featured doing a promo while holding Adam Copeland’s wedding ring. Black mentioned that Copeland challenged him to a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match at Double or Nothing for the TNT Title and Black accepted. Black said when he beats Copeland, he wants Copeland to bend the knee to the House of Black.

Match #3: Hook defeated Sebastian Wolfe by submission. Hook won with Red Rum in less than one minute.

After the match, Hook said that he wasn’t just here for a match. Hook called out Chris Jericho and Hook said he wanted his FTW Title as well. Jericho entered with Big Bill. Jericho said that Hook had to win a qualifying match and then maybe he’ll get an FTW Title match. Hook said he was fine with that and he hit Jericho in the head with a microphone. Jericho & Bill attacked Hook, so Katsuyori Shibata made the save as Jericho & Bill retreated.

Match #4: Swerve Strickland defeated Brian Cage by submission. Swerve won with a House Call kick.

Swerve Strickland was attacked by Nick Wayne after the match. Wayne’s “father” Christian Cage arrived with Killswitch and Mother Wayne as well. Nick smashed a family photo on Swerve, which cut Swerve open. Christian Cage reminded Swerve that he attacked Nick Wayne last year, so this was payback. Christian: “Do you think your daughter is proud? Maybe we should ask her if she’s proud of her absentee father.” Christian said he took his blood and in two weeks he’ll take Swerve’s World Title.

Match #5: “Timeless” Toni Storm defeated Harley Cameron by pinfall. Storm won with the Storm Zero.

The AEW International Champion Roderick Strong and Will Ospreay had a face-to-face segment. Ospreay said that Strong never respected him so Ospreay didn’t respect Strong either. Strong said that Will is talented but also an idiot. Strong said that Will didn’t deserve that title. Ospreay said he’ll show the world why he’s on another level.

There was a contract signing between TBS Champion Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Mone in the ring. They exchanged words. Willow made it personal when she said this: “The last time we wrestled, I walked away a champion. And you didn’t walk out at all.” Mone slapped Willow for that. Willow avoided an attack and gave Mone a Powerbomb through one of the tables.

Match #6:Kazuchika Okada defeated Dax Harwood by pinfall to retain the AEW Continental Classic. Okada won with the Rainmaker after a low blow.

After the match, The Elite foursome of The Young Bucks, Okada & Perry beat up Harwood, Wheeler & Danielson. That led to Darby Allin making his return after missing about two months.
