AEW Dynamite Results – July 26, 2023

AEW Dynamite Set

AEW Dynamite featured a triple threat tag team match main event with The Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli facing Lucha Bros and Best Friends.

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite took place at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York.

Match #1:Orange Cassidy beat AR Fox to retain the AEW International Title with the Mousetrap for the pinfall win.

After the match, Orange gave AR Fox his sunglasses, but Fox broke the glasses with his hand. Fox hit Orange with a cheapshot forearm to the head. Darby Allin went out there to ask his friend Fox what was he doing. Fox acted like he was shocked by what he did.

When Orange Cassidy got up, Jon Moxley hit him with a clothesline and Death Rider slam. Moxley did it because Cassidy punched Moxley’s friend Claudio Castagnoli at ROH Death Before Dishonor.

Don Callis & Chris Jericho were interviewed by Renee Paquette with Callis saying he got Jericho a tag team match with Konosuke Takeshita, who Jericho likes. The match is against Jericho’s allies Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara. Callis talked Jericho into accepting it.

Jack Perry, the FTW Champion, was interviewed by Tony Schiavone in the ring. Jack blasted the FTW Championship and ripped on ECW as a promotion. AEW Producer Jerry Lynn, who wrestled in ECW, walked out to tell Jack to shut up for being disrespectful toward ECW. Jack said he didn’t want a fight right now, but said they can do it next week.

Match #2: Pac beat Gravity by submission with the Brutalizer.

There was a backstage interview with AEW World Champion MJF & Adam Cole with Renee Paquette that was taped last week. Cole said MJF was one of his best friends. MJF said he’ll give Cole an AEW World Title match whether they win or lose the Tag Team Titles together. Roderick Strong warned Cole about trusting MJF, but Cole didn’t want to hear it.

There was also a backstage interview with AEW Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) about their title defense against MJF & Cole on Collision this Saturday. The interview was taped last week. They both respect Cole, but they don’t like MJF.

Match #3: Swerve Strickland defeated Darby Allin. – It was a cheap win for Strickland after AR Fox attacked Allin. Swerve hit a JML Driver to pin Allin.

After the match, Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana gave AR Fox a Mogul Embassy shirt to welcome Fox to the group.

Chris Jericho was in his dressing room with the Jericho Appreciation Society’s Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Anna Jay & Tay Melo, who is pregnant. They were frustrated because it appeared like Jericho wasn’t focused on their group. Menard told Jericho to figure it out.

Match #4: Dr. Britt Baker defeated Taya Valkyrie with the Lockjaw submission.

Match #5: Lucha Brothers (Fenix & Penta) defeated Best Friends (Trent Beretta & Chuck Taylor) and Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli) in a triple threat tag team match. – Penta pinned Trent to get the win.

There were still a few minutes left, so everybody was brawling on the floor after the match. They announced an Anything Goes Match for next week. Orange Cassidy hit the Orange Punch on Claudio on the floor and that was the end of the show.
