AEW Dynamite Results – April 21st 2021

Keep up with all of tonight’s AEW Dynamite results as the show’s 82nd episode emanates from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida as AEW’s flagship show continues to build to Double or Nothing!

The results from this week’s show were as follows:

  • Hangman Page defeated Ricky Starks via Submission (8:50)
  • Penta El Zero Miedo defeated Trent? via Pinfall (10:45)
  • Hikaru Shida defeated Tay Conti via Pinfall to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship (12:20)
  • QT Marshall defeated Billy Gunn via Pinfall (5:15)
  • Christian Cage defeated Powerhouse Hobbs via Pinfall (10:25)
  • Darby Allin defeated Jungle Boy via Pinfall to retain the TNT Championship (15:45)

Ricky Starks vs Hangman Adam Page

  • Taz joins commentary for the match. Neither man gains the advantage early on but Page eventually slams his opponent in mid-air to take control. Page gets an early two-count off a deadlift inverted fallaway slam buy Starks retakes the control but choking Page out on the ropes.
  • Starks attempts a dive from the top but lands awkwardly on his ankle, allowing Page to hit a brainbuster for another two-count but Starks retaliates with a powerbomb for a near-fall of his own. Both men head to the top and Page hits a avalanche fallaway slam before hitting a stiff lariat for a very close two-count.
  • Page sets up for the Buckshot Lariat but Starks dodges and hits a Spear for another two-count. Page locks in a choke similar to Moxley’s Bulldog Choke combined with a heel hook to pick up the win.
  • Taz says Page got lucky before telling him to watch his back. From behind, Hook hits a chop block to take out Page’s knee and Team Taz beat him down. Brian Cage comes out and teases a powerbomb but The Dark Order make the save.

Winner: Hangman Adam Page via Submission in 8:50

Trent? vs Penta El Zero Miedo

  • Alex Abrahantes accompanies Penta to the ring. Penta tries to focus on Trent’s arm early on but Trent takes control with a tope con hiro to the outside. Penta hits a springboard crossbody into a sling blade for a near-fall before Trent retaliates with a running tornado DDT.
  • Penta hits a Destroyer before we cut to commercial. We cut back to Penta raining down strikes on Trent in the corner before Trent counters into a half-and-half suplex followed up by a running knee strike for a two-count.
  • Penta hits a corner-assisted backstabber for another two-count before following up with the pumphandle driver for a very close near-fall. Penta sets up for the Package Piledriver on the apron but Trent fights out and hits a normal piledriver onto the apron.
  • Alex gets on the mic and says that Trent and his mom sucks which causes Trent to get a chair. Whilst the referee is distracted, Orange Cassidy gets in the ring but Penta takes him down. Alex hits Trent with a mic behind the referee’s back before Penta hits the Package Piledriver to pick up the win.

Winner: Penta El Zero Miedo via Pinfall in 10:45

Jim Ross Sits Down With The Pinnacle

  • JR asks MJF about Jericho’s promo a few weeks ago. Before he answers, Wardlow gifts MJF a new silk scarf before saying that Jericho tripped up when he said his name because he’s afraid for him.
  • MJF follows up by claiming that Jericho surrounds himself with ‘a bunch of As’ so that he, ‘a B’, looks better. MJF says Jericho’s been outsmarting people for 30 years but MJF says he’s one of the few who managed to avert Jericho’s mindgames.
  • MJF recalls how he’s undefeated and already beaten Jericho in singles action. He says Jericho was right about one thing: He’s a mark but he’s a mark for Jericho’s spot.

Hikaru Shida vs Tay Conti – AEW Women’s World Championship Match

  • Both women bow to each other before locking up. The match quickly breaks down into a slugfest before Conti takes down the champion with a judo throw. Shida hits two consecutive running knee strikes for a two-count before transitioning into a waistlock chickenwing which Shida breaks via rope break.
  • Shida hits Conti with an apron-hung knee strike before whipping Conti into the barricades on the outside. She brings Conti back into the ring and locks in a Bow & Arrow submission which she transitions into a waistlock double wristlock submission before we cut to commercial.
  • We cut back to Shida hitting a superplex from the apron back into the ring but Cont retaliates with a bicycle kick. Conti mounts a comeback with various strikes and throws before following with a ripcord knee attempt which Shida dodges. Conti sets up Shida on the top rope and hits a senton onto a hanging Shida for a near-fall.
  • Conti tries for the DD-Tay but Shida fights out and hits a jumping knee strike to stun the challenger. She follows up with a falcon arrow for a near-fall of her own before setting up Conti on the top rope. Shida hits the Witch’s Shot onto the top turnbuckle before attempting the Katana but Conti dodges.
  • Conti hits a bicycle kick before hitting the Tay-KO for a very close near-fall. Shida hits a fireman’s carry backbreaker before hitting the Katana to retain. Afterwards, Britt Baker makes her way to the stage and points out that she is now the number one ranked woman in AEW.

Winner: Hikaru Shida via Pinfall, retaining the AEW Women’s World Championship in 12:20

Tony Schiavone Interviews The Inner Circle

  • Schiavone introduces The Inner Circle and asks Jericho about The Pinnacle. Hager says they have presents for everyone in The Pinnacle and they’ll be sucking through a straw after Blood & Guts. Jericho says he couldn’t pay attention to Wardlow because of his manicured eyebrows before saying he wrote a show tune about MJF after he referenced Rosie O’Donnell.
  • Jericho sings a song about giving MJF a swirlee. He says that ultimately, Blood & Guts will be a violent affair and the rules of the match will be established next week in a parlay between The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle. Jericho ends by saying he’s going to beat the “living hell” out of MJF at Blood & Guts.

Billy Gunn vs QT Marshall

  • Gunn attacks QT Marshall and the rest of The Factory as QT makes his entrance. Gunn throws QT into the ringside barricade several times before throwing him into the ring and hitting a slam. Gunn continually stares down Nick Comoroto as he once again throws QT into the barricade.
  • As the referee tries to check on QT, Nick pushes Gunn into the ringpost before the rest of The Gunn Club ambush Comoroto & Solow. They brawl out of the arena as QT hits several forearm strikes to Gunn’s head. He hits a piledriver for a near-fall and follows up with several strikes before Billy builds a comeback.
  • Gunn goes for the Famouser but QT dodges before attempting the Diamond Cutter with Gunn which QT uses to escapes to the ramp. Gunn throws QT back into the ring but Agogo runs out and hits him with a right hook to the chest. QT hits the Diamond Cutter to pick up the win.
  • After the match, Agogo hands QT a wooden chair and he teases hitting Gunn with it but Dustin Rhodes makes the save with a bullrope. Dustin picks up the wooden chair and Nick Comoroto takes the shot for QT, absorbing the damage. The two are separated by referees to end the segment.

Winner: QT Marshall via Pinfall in 5:15

Moxley & Kingston Destroy The Elite’s Trailer

  • Callis references Omega vs Swann at IMPACT Rebellion this Sunday before Kenny Omega starts cutting a promo but constant honking breaks his focus. It’s Moxley & Kingston in a truck outside who ram the trailer. Moxley breaks the trailer’s window and they break in but The Elite aren’t even there.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs Christian Cage

  • Taz joins commentary for this match. Hobbs overpowers Christian to throw him out of the ring early on but Christian retaliates with a suicide dropkick. Hobbs quickly regains control with a stiff lariat before throwing Cage over the barricade before we cut to commercial.
  • We cut back to Hobbs locking in a headlock on Cage before whipping Cage across the ring by the neck. Hobbs goes for a corner splash but Christian counters by holding his legs up before hitting his signature pendulum kick followed up by a diving uppercut for a near-fall.
  • Hobbs hits a spinebuster for a near-fall of his own before taking Cage to the top. Cage manages to slide out and take down Hobbs with a powerbomb before following up with a frog splash for another near-fall. Hobbs hits a hip attack onto Christian in the corner for yet another near-fall.
  • Cage locks in a sleeper hold but Hobbs lifts him into a Oklahoma Slam position. Cage manages to slip out and hit the Killswitch to pick up the win. After the match, Ricky Starks comes out to help Hobbs and stares down Christian in the process.

Winner: Christian Cage via Pinfall in 10:25

Jade Cargill Is Open To Manager Offers

  • Cargill says in a promo video that she’s had a lot of offers from managers looking to sign her in AEW. We see Matt Hardy and Vickie Guerrero making offers but Cargill says she’s her own boss and if anyone really wants her, they have to make “a helluva deal.”

Darby Allin vs Jungle Boy – TNT Championship Match

  • Neither man gains control early on but Darby starts reigning down strikes after escaping a Snare Trap attempt that wasn’t complete. Jungle Boy hits a stiff elbow on Darby for a two-count and Darby retaliates with several hard strikes in the corner before we cut to commercial.
  • Jungle boy hits a belly-to-belly suplex into a german suplex for a near-fall. He follows up with a tiger suplex for yet another near-fall. Darby hits the flipping Stunner and follows up with a few Coffin Splashes but Jungle Boy gets his feet up before hitting a reverse bodyscissors driver followed up by a tope con hilo to the outside.
  • Darby stuns Jungle Boy on the apron before hitting a Coffin Drop to the outside before rolling back in the ring. Luchasauras helps Jungle Boy back into the ring, causing String and Luchasauras to brawl out through the entranceway.
  • Jungle Boy locks in the Snare Trap before transitioning into a Romero Special back into the Snare Trap. Darby gouges Jungle Boy’s eyes to escape before picking up the win with the Last Supper roll-up.
  • After the match, Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page attack both men but Lance Archer attempts to make the save. Archer gets double low blowed but Sting makes his way back out to chase Sky and Page away.

Winner: Darby Allin via Pinfall, retaining the TNT Championship in 15:45
