The ratings for the first AEW Dynamite of 2023 are in.
As reported by Wrestlenomics, the first episode of the new look AEW show drew an average audience of 864,000 viewers with an 18-49 demographic rating of 0.26.
New Look AEW Dynamite Sees Drop In Viewers
The December 28th episode of Dynamite saw an average audience of 876,000 people watch the show, meaning that the drop in viewers calculates to approximately 1.4%. Although the overall viewership has seen a decrease, the key demographic rating has remained the same as the last episode of AEW Dynamite in 2022.
Dynamite saw two title matches take place, with a new champion crowned in the main event, as Darby Allin would defeat Samoa Joe to become the TNT Champion for the second time in his career. The other championship match would see The Acclaimed ultimately retain the AEW Tag Team Championships over the team of Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.
The first match for AEW Revolution 2023 was also seemingly announced on the show. Following a back and forth verbal battle between MJF and Bryan Danielson, the AEW World Champion would only allow The American Dragon a shot at the title if Danielson met the conditions laid out by MJF. Danielson would counter by stating that he would run through the entire AEW roster, then going on to challenge MJF for the gold in a 60 minute Iron Man match.
Along with the new presentation and multiple title matches, AEW built to the January 11th episode, which will be taking place at The Forum in Los Angeles. The show will see the return of “Hangman” Adam Page, who will be hoping to medically cleared for the return match. Page’s opponent will be Jon Moxley, who was responsible for initially giving Page a concussion, causing the former AEW World Champion to miss multiple months of competition.
