The Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite was a new record low for the company.
Airing outside its traditional time slot, the Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite aired on Tuesday, October 8th at 9pm Eastern. This meant that the first hour of Dynamite was directly in competition with WWE NXT airing on CW.
PWTorch reports that NXT’s ratings continue to be strong, earning a total average viewership of 874,000 viewers and a 0.24 rating in the key 18-49 year old demographic. NXT’s success marked trouble for Dynamite, which saw its lowest ratings since the program began in 2019.
According to PWTorch, AEW Dynamite earned a total average viewership of 329,000 viewers, compared to 680,000 the prior week in its normal time slot. The previous record low also took place on a pre-empted episode in 2021 when Dynamite aired on Friday, June 4th and earned a total average viewership of 462,000 people. The October 8th episode of Dynamite earned a 0.10 rating in the key demographic, compared to 0.20 the week before.
The main event of Dynamite featured a tag team match as Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta were victorious against former allies Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley. Over on NXT, meanwhile, the main event saw Randy Orton defeat rising star Je’Von Evans.
Why Did AEW Dynamite Air On Tuesday October 8th?
While Dynamite traditionally airs on Wednesday nights on TBS, Major League Baseball playoffs are set to air on Wednesday, October 9th. Therefore, Dynamite was moved to Tuesday, October 8th to accommodate that sports schedule.
